Yokohama

 

Yokohama, a city in Tokyo Bay, is often overlooked when traveling in Japan. I admit, it’s not interesting and culturally rich as other purposes, but it still has its unique attractions to offer. If you are in Tokyo to find a day trip and pain of shrine and temple, Yokohama is for you.

Yokohama is the capital of Kanagawa prefecture. It is just south of Tokyo and on the mainland island of Honshu. This is an important commercial center in the Tokyo area Kingdom. Initially started as a fishing village that Japan opens door to foreign trade through the port, it developed into a leading port city very quickly, and also has a large population of foreigners. Yokohoma climate is humid subtropical climate with hot summers and damp winters and not too cold.

There are many attractions in Yokohama a fascinating person. At 106 meters, Yokohama Marine Tower, the tallest inland lighthouse in the world. It is located in Yamashita Park in front of the water in the harbor area Bashamichi famous. Japan’s largest Chinatown is also in this city, and worth a visit. You’ll find foods that taste very different from China Town in New York or elsewhere. If you like ramen noodles in there, stop at Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum to learn how delicious dishes spread throughout Japan from Yokohama. Chinatown is very close to the famous Yokohama Doll Museum and the Central Silk. Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature with a beautiful rose garden is also within easy reach.

Yokohama port area is home to a clock, Cosmo 21 which is not only a giant ferries wheel, but the world’s largest clock. It also provides great pictures at night. If you are impressed with big arenas and stadiums, Yokohama Arena was built for 17,000 people in the area, in addition to Shikansen station. International Stadium Yokohama Nissan Stadium and again. Finally, in Naka Ward, there is a famous Japanese garden called “Sankeien” designed by a silk merchant, Tomitaro Hara.
